Mary Scott Hunter is a Republican candidate for the Alabama Board of Education, District 8
including Limestone, Madison, Jackson, DeKalb and Etowah Counties.

Mary Scott Hunter grew up on the Alabama Gulf Coast and holds a deep love for the State
of Alabama. Her parents are Scott Hunter, former University of Alabama and NFL
championship quarterback, and mother, Deborah Hunter of Daphne, Alabama. She
graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School
of Law. She served ten years as an Air Force Judge Advocate General first in the active
duty Air Force, then in the Reserves and Alabama Air National Guard. After moving to
Huntsville from her last active duty Air Force assignment in Germany, she established her
law practice and is an associate with Siniard, Timberlake & League, P.C.

Mary Scott’s husband, Jon, is a fighter pilot with the Alabama Air National Guard and two-
time Bronze Star decorated member of the 187th Fighter Wing. He is a Principal Engineer
with Gray Research, working on a contract with NASA. The couple also owns a small
company -- Torel Technology, LLC. They have three children -- two boys and a girl -- and
attend Trinity United Methodist Church where Mary Scott teaches adult Sunday School and
serves on the Finance Committee, and Jon is a musician.
